BLOG: Blog v Wiki

Blogs are usually written by one author where as wikis are written by a collaboration of authors. Since there is only one person in charge of a blog, they have the power to do whatever they want on their own blog. There could possibly be typos because no one else edits the page. According to Wikipedia, a wiki is text is usually written in a simple markup language and then edited with a rich text editor. There are constantly people updating different wiki pages where as bloggers usually don't update their old posts. The importance of convergence in today's networked world helps everyone keep connected. Blogs and wikis create a platform for users to voice their opinions and share ideas. According to Bercovici, a popular blogging website Tumblr, has seemingly "lost its cool." In my opinion, Tumblr can do a handful of things like collaborate with celebrities or influencers to increase its popularity. I can't think of a new use for a wiki because every time I google a word or person, Wikipedia usually has a page on it.

  1. I really like the way how you compared blogs and wikis. I didn't even think about the typos! I find that point very interesting. It is kind of cool when you think about how many people are editing one Wiki post or even a paragraph to be posted in a Wiki post. I think Tumblr is one of the more popular blogging sites that most people use now.
